Job Description: The Background Study Research Assistant conducts background studies in accordance with the Human Services Background Studies Act (245C). Background studies are conducted on individuals who will have contact with vulnerable (child or adult) populations; and in compliance with requirements of licensed, and/or non-licensed human service and health programs. This position accesses a range of study subject records and information that are obtained from specific sources such as online databases, registries, and repositories; including sources maintained by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The Background Study Research Assistant provides direct customer service support and completes initial background study reviews. This includes gathering and reviewing a variety of records to determine if the applicant is disqualified; and responding to phone calls from providers, vendors, and applicants. Job Responsibilities: Analyze new background study determinations immediately upon receiving a response from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) to determine whether the information returned is potentially disqualifying in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section 245C.15 Perform substantive reviews of FBI, BCA and Minnesota Court Information Systems (MNCIS) criminal history, as well as, Minnesota state and county maltreatment history to determine whether a study can be determined eligible or disqualified Respond to email inquiries as well as incoming phone calls via our Contact Center to concerns and complaints, from study subjects, providers, attorneys, concerned citizens and stakeholders about the background study process Assign studies according to triage protocol considering provider type and related statutory requirements Draft disqualification notices and issue supervision status notices involving cases determined to be high priority due to complexity or other urgency Handle all information in a manner consistent with Division policy and in accordance with the provisions of the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act and all applicable federal data privacy standards Job Requirements: 2 years advance administrative, paraprofessional or technical experience in health or human services, criminal justice, research or related field OR Associates degree in human services, paralegal studies, criminal justice or related field AND 1 year of advance administrative, paraprofessional or technical experience in health or human services, criminal justice, research or related field OR Bachelor’s degree in human services, paralegal studies, criminal justice or related field Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws and rules pertaining to Background Studies and Licensing by Dept. of Human Services Job Details: Company: State of Minnesota Vacancy Type: Full Time Job Functions: Others Job Location: Woodbury, MN, US Application Deadline: N/A Apply Here careersvilla.net
