Job Description:

BLM is seeking qualified candidates interested in serving as Land Law Examiner (Minerals) in the Montana/Dakotas State Office, Division of Energy, Minerals, and Realty, Branch of Fluid Minerals. The position is located in Billings, Montana. Information about the area can be found at Billings Chamber of Commerce.

We expect to fill two (2) vacancies at this time; however, additional positions may be filled from this announcement if they become available.

Job Responsibilities:

• The incumbent is responsible for performing a variety of duties including, but not limited to, the following:
• Preparing decision documents and/or notices such as rejecting or accepting applications, maintenance fees, maintenance fee waivers and/or other required supporting documents; requesting additional information or curative actions.
• Reviewing and processing a full range of difficult and complex mineral leasing and mining law adjudicative cases.
• Ensuring supporting documents filed are complete and meet all the requirements as specified by law and regulation.
• Utilizing data systems and applications to collect, enter, manipulate, update, and maintain data according to prescribed program standards.
• Ensuring data quality and integrity by adherence to quality control standards and procedures.

Job Requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship is required.

• You cannot hold an active real estate license: nor can you have an interest or hold stocks in firms with interest in Federal Lands.

• Appointment will be subject to a favorably adjudicated background/suitability investigation/determination.
• If selected for this position, you will be required to annually complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450 within 30 days of reporting to duty.
