EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee’s official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

  • Representing the Technological Hazards Division (THD) in congressional/OMB/OIG hearings and inquiries, discussions with industry stakeholders, and financial management meetings with regional headquarters.
  • Planning, directing, coordinating and evaluating organizational programs in consultation with subordinate supervisors and staff, as well as serving as an authoritative analyst within the branch.
  • Serving as the principal advisor to leadership on: Managing budget and fiscal operational matters; planning, monitoring and allocating of resources; conducting quantitative, qualitative, and trend data analysis; overseeing accounting and financial reporting, and implementing management and financial controls; and establishing goals, developing policies and plans, establishing financial procedures and allocation of resources.
  • Performing the full range of supervisory functions including workforce panning, workload analysis, providing for training, conducting performance plans and reviews, resolving grievances and employee complaints.
