National Weather Service Employment – Supervisory Fish & Wildlife Administrator

Job Description:

This position is located within the Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC), Resource Assessment and Conservation Engineering (RACE) Division with one vacancy in Seattle, WA.

Job Responsibilities:

• Administer scientific research throughout Alaska on commercially marketable species and all aspects of marine ecosystems.
• Plan and conduct annual large-scale fisheries stock assessment and ecosystem surveys.
• Oversee the development of annual activity and staffing plans as well as the planning and executing of a multi-million-dollar annual budget.
• Represent Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC) & National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Fisheries on a variety of high profile and sometimes controversial issues, including survey results and stock assessments, to high level management bodies and senior executives.
• Evaluate work performance and develops performance standards; provide advice, counsel, and instruction on both work and administrative matters; organize and assigns work.

Job Requirements:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National to apply.
• Required to pass a background investigation and fingerprint check.
• Must be suitable for Federal employment.
• Must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable (www.sss.gov)
• Qualifications requirements must be met by closing date of announcement.

Qualification & Experience:

• A one year probationary period may be required.
• Payment of relocation expenses is not authorized.
• This position is not in the bargaining unit.
• Payment of relocation incentive may be authorized.

• This position requires a Low Risk Security Clearance.
